I have grown up in what we know today as Midrand, Gauteng. Those years called Halfway House, between Johannesburg and Pretoria.

 

My interest in photography started when I was 10 years old with a Brownie camera, which used 120 roll film and operated well in black and white.

 

When I finished school I wanted to join the South African Airforce, but it never happened and I joined the South African Police instead of going to the army for my year of military training. My passion for flying was still there and after a few years I started private flying lessons, for I was too old to join the Airforce by then.

 

All the years I did photography as a hobby and did lots of weddings and portrait photos with film cameras like the Hasselblad and Mamiya RB67 for medium format and Nikon 35mm. Using black and white and colour and developed in my own darkroom.

 

I sold all my film equipment about 10 years ago and gone the digital way, now using a Canon 5Dmk III and a 7D.

 

I am now retired from the airline after 35 years in aviation and is doing photography fulltime.

 

I updated my knowlage in doing a course with The Photographic Institute and is doing advance courses in portrait and wedding photography.

 

At the moment I am running a studio from my home and apart from wedding photography, I do family, children, newborn, baby to toddler photos as well.
